FLORHAM PARK - John Love, an inventor, musician, author, magician and engineer, died Wednesday at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a short illness.  He was 91.

Born in Limavady, Northern Ireland, Mr. Love came to the United States in 1896. He lived most of his life in West Orange before moving here in 1963.

While serving in the Army during World War I, he participated in the battle of Argonne in Europe.

A former construction foreman, electrical and mechanical engineer and author, he was still working for his son's company, Computer Power Inc. of High Bridge, at the time of his death.

He was the holder of many patents, the latest being Honda's three-valve engine. During different periods of his life, he worked as a magician and a musician.  He was also an avid amateur radio operator.

Survivors include a son, Roger K., and a daughter, Jacqueline Malcom, both of Florham Park; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
